#105 - " Chief Patterns "
These bold blanket designs are known as Chief Patterns and are woven by the Navajo of Arizona and New Mexico. They typically have strong black and white horizontal stripes interrupted in 9 points by a geometric coloured pattern. These
are at the top and bottom comers and the midpoint in between on each side, then at the top, middle, and bottom on the centreline. The patterns are halved on the
edges of the blanket and are made complete when the wearer draws the two edges together as the blanket is wrapped around the body.
